How to organize agents by display order in Presence®

How to control the order agents that appear on agent grid elements on your website.

Overview

By default, agent grid elements sort agents alphabetically by first name. Display Order is an optional setting that lets you control the exact sequence agents appear in — featuring team leaders prominently, grouping by seniority, or arranging your team however suits your business.

Important: Display Order only works if your agent grid element is configured to sort by Display Order. The default sort is alphabetical by first name — you need to change this setting before your Display Order numbers will have any effect on the live site.

Step 1: Configure your agent grid to sort by Display Order

Before setting Display Order numbers, confirm your agent grid element is using Display Order as its sort method — otherwise your changes won't appear on the website.

1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
2. Click Websites from the left-hand menu, then hover over the site you want to edit and select the pen icon.
3. Use the page dropdown in the top-left corner to navigate to the page with your agent grid — typically your Team, About, or Meet the Team page.
4. Click Edit in the top-right corner.
5. Click on the agent grid element to open the settings panel on the left.
6. Scroll to the Filter & Sort section.
7. In the Order Agents or Sort By dropdown, select Display Order.
8. Click Save.

Your agent grid will now use the Display Order numbers set in Content → Agents.

Step 2: Set Display Order numbers for agents

1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
2. In the left-hand menu, click Content to expand the submenu, then select Agents.
3. Locate the Display Order column.
4. Click the arrows next to the agent whose order you want to change.
5. In the pop-up, enter a number — lower numbers appear higher on the page. For example, entering 1 places the agent at the top.
6. Click Save.

Repeat for each agent you want to position. The system automatically adjusts other agents' positions to prevent duplicate numbers.

How Display Order numbering works

Lower numbers appear higher on the page — position 1 is first, position 2 is second, and so on. Use sequential numbers (1, 2, 3, 4...) without gaps for the easiest management.

If two agents are assigned the same number: The system automatically adjusts other agents' positions to maintain unique sequential numbering.

If some agents don't have a Display Order number assigned: Agents without numbers will appear after numbered agents, typically in alphabetical order by first name.

Example:

• Display Order 1: Sarah Thompson (Managing Partner)
• Display Order 2: Michael Chen (Senior Agent)
• Display Order 3: Emily Rodriguez (Senior Agent)
• Display Order 4: James Wilson (Agent)

What happens to Display Order when the team changes

When you add a new agent: They are assigned the next available number and will appear at the bottom of the grid. Manually assign them a number if you want them in a specific position.

When you delete an agent: Their Display Order number is removed and the system automatically adjusts remaining agents to maintain sequential numbering. Review the order after deleting agents to confirm your preferred sequence is intact.

Where Display Order applies

Display Order only applies to agent grid elements — pages that show multiple agents in a grid or list layout, such as Team pages, About pages with agent grids, and agent directory pages.

Display Order does not apply to individual agent profile pages, agent dropdowns or filters, search results, or other custom layouts.

Troubleshooting: Display Order changes not appearing on the website

The grid may not be set to sort by Display Order

This is the most common cause. The default sort for agent grids is alphabetical by first name. Follow Step 1 above to confirm the Order Agents dropdown is set to Display Order and click Save.

Browser cache

Your browser may be showing a cached version of the page. Clear your cache or view the site in an incognito or private browsing window.

Changes weren't saved

Return to Content → Agents and check the Display Order column to confirm your numbers are saved. If not, re-enter them and click Save.

Custom layout may not support Display Order

Tips for managing Display Order

• Set the grid sort method first — always confirm your agent grid is set to Display Order before adjusting numbers. Changes to Display Order numbers have no effect if the grid is still sorting alphabetically
• Use sequential numbers — assign 1, 2, 3, 4... without gaps for the easiest management
• Review after team changes — when agents join or leave, check the Display Order column to confirm the sequence is still correct
• Feature leadership first — place managing partners, brokers, or team leads at the top to establish credibility immediately

What's the default sort order for agent grids?

Agent grids sort alphabetically by first name by default. Display Order is an optional setting you configure in the agent grid element's Filter & Sort settings.

Why aren't my Display Order changes showing on my website?

The most likely cause is that your agent grid element is still set to sort alphabetically rather than by Display Order. Go to the agent grid element settings, find the Order Agents or Sort By dropdown under Filter & Sort, and confirm it's set to Display Order.

Does Display Order affect how agents appear on their individual profile pages?

No. Display Order only affects how agents are sequenced in agent grid elements — pages displaying multiple agents. Individual agent profile pages are not affected.

What happens if I assign a Display Order number that's already in use?

The system automatically adjusts other agents' positions to prevent duplicates and maintain sequential numbering.

A new agent is appearing at the wrong position — how do I fix it?

New agents are assigned the next available number and appear at the bottom of the grid by default. Go to Content → Agents, find the agent in the Display Order column, and assign them a new number to position them correctly.
