Overview

The Presence® Platform does not automatically resize or compress images. Always optimize images before uploading — oversized files will slow down your website.

Optimization workflow

For every image you upload:

Choose the right dimensions based on where the image will be used (see table below)
Resize to those exact dimensions
Compress to meet the file size target
Rename the file with a descriptive name (e.g., "downtown-seattle-loft-kitchen.jpg")

FAQs

Does Presence® automatically resize or compress images?

No. The platform does not resize or compress images on upload. If you upload a 5 MB camera file, it will be served at that size and will slow down your website. Always resize and compress before uploading.

What size should my hero or opening image be?

Upload at 1920 x 1200px, JPEG format at 80–90% quality, and compress to under 500 KB. This is the recommended size for full-width background images at the top of pages.

What size should my agent headshot be?

Use 1500 x 1500px for high-resolution displays (under 300 KB) or 300 x 300px for a lighter-weight version (under 50 KB). Both should be square (1:1 aspect ratio) in JPEG format.

Should I use JPEG or PNG for property photos?

JPEG for all property photos. PNG files are significantly larger than JPEG for the same image — only use PNG when you need a transparent background, such as for a logo.

My images look blurry after uploading — what should I do?

The source image resolution is likely too low. Re-upload at the recommended dimensions for that image type. Also check that the JPEG quality wasn't set too low — use 80–90% quality, not lower.

What's the maximum file size I should upload?

Aim to stay under 500 KB for large images like hero images and property photos, under 400 KB for blog images, under 300 KB for high-res headshots, and under 100 KB for thumbnails. Images over these targets will slow down page load times.
