Why aren't my blog posts showing up on my website?

If your published blog posts aren't appearing on your site, a few common issues could be the cause. Work through these checks to find and fix the problem.

Overview

Published blog posts won't always appear on your website automatically — there are a few things that can prevent them from showing up. The most common causes are a missing blog grid element, a category filter on the blog element, a post still in draft status, or a future publish date. Work through the checks below in order to identify and fix the issue.

Troubleshooting: blog posts not showing on your website

Check 1: Confirm the post is published

Your post won't appear on your website if it's still saved as a draft.

  1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Content to expand the submenu, then select Blog Posts.
  3. Use the search bar to find your post, or click it from the list.
  4. Check the status in the top-right corner. If it shows Draft, click the status button, select Published, and click Publish.

Check 2: Check the publish date

If your post has a future publish date set, it won't go live until that date and time arrives.

  1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Content to expand the submenu, then select Blog Posts.
  3. Open the post and check the Publish Date field. If it's set to a future date, update it to today's date and click Publish.

Check 3: Check the blog element filter settings

Your blog page may have a category filter applied to the blog grid element. If your post isn't tagged with the filtered category, it won't appear.

  1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
  2. Click Websites from the left-hand menu, then hover over the site you want to edit and select the pen icon.
  3. Using the page dropdown in the top-left corner, select your blog page.
  4. Click the Edit button in the top-right corner to enter edit mode.
  5. Click on the blog grid element to open the settings panel.
  6. Under Filter & Sort, check whether the element is filtered to a specific category. If so, either update your post to include that category, or remove the filter so all posts appear.
  7. Save your changes.

Check 4: Add the blog grid element to your blog page

If no blog posts have ever appeared on your blog page, the blog grid element may be missing entirely. This is the element that displays your posts on the page — without it, published posts won't show up even if everything else is set correctly.

  1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
  2. Click Websites from the left-hand menu, then hover over the site you want to edit and select the pen icon.
  3. Using the page dropdown in the top-left corner, select your blog page.
  4. Click the Edit button in the top-right corner to enter edit mode.
  5. Hover between existing elements on the page and click the plus sign to open the element library.
  6. Search "blog grid" in the search bar, or click Blog from the left side menu and select Blog Grid.
  7. Save your changes.

Once the blog grid element is in place, your published posts should appear on the page automatically.

Check 5: Clear your browser cache

Your browser may be showing a cached version of your site. Clear your cache or open your site in an incognito or private browsing window to see the latest version.

A published status means the post is ready to display, but it won't appear if the blog page is missing the blog grid element, has a category filter that excludes your post, or if a future publish date is still set. Work through the checks above to identify the cause.

Do I need to re-publish my posts after fixing the issue?

Not in most cases. Once the underlying issue is resolved — whether that's adding the blog grid element, adjusting a category filter, or updating the publish date — your posts should appear automatically without needing to be re-published.

What's the difference between a Blog page and a Blog Details page?

Your Blog page is where your list of posts appears. Your Blog Details page is the template that controls how each individual post displays when a visitor clicks into it. Both pages must exist on your site for posts to display correctly.
