Can I turn on AI Lead Nurture for existing or past leads?

AI Lead Nurture only activates when a new form is submitted — here's why it doesn't apply retroactively, and what you can do instead.

Overview

AI Lead Nurture cannot be applied retroactively to leads already in your AI CRM. Enrollment is triggered automatically when a new contact submits a form or inquiry on your website — it cannot be switched on manually for existing contacts. That said, there are steps you can take to get past leads back into the AI nurture flow.

Why AI Lead Nurture doesn't apply to past leads

AI Lead Nurture enrolls a lead the moment they submit a form — a contact form, home search sign-up, or another entry point on your website. Within three minutes of submission, Alex (the AI Lead Nurture Specialist) sends a text message and begins the follow-up sequence.

Leads already in your AI CRM — whether they were added before AI Lead Nurture was active on your account, or before the trigger ran — are not automatically enrolled. There is currently no way to manually push an existing contact into the AI nurture sequence.

Important: AI Lead Nurture only engages contacts who have opted in by submitting a form. This is required for TCPA compliance, which is also why retroactive enrollment is not supported.

How to get a past lead into AI Lead Nurture

The only way for an existing lead to enter the AI Lead Nurture flow is for them to submit a new inquiry or form on your website.

Here are a few ways to make that happen:

• Share a direct link to a property search, listing, or contact form and encourage the lead to re-register. If they submit their information with a valid U.S. mobile number, Alex will automatically begin engaging them.
• If the lead previously signed in via Google without providing a phone number, Alex will begin messaging as soon as a valid phone number is added to their profile.

Important: A lead will only be enrolled if they provide a valid U.S. mobile number that can receive text messages. Landlines, VoIP numbers, international numbers, and numbers that have opted out of SMS are not eligible.

How to reach out to past leads manually

If you want to re-engage past leads right now, you can contact them directly through the Presence® Platform.

1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
2. Click Contacts from the left-hand menu.
3. Use the search or filter options to find the leads you want to reach.
4. Open a contact's profile and use the messaging tools to send a manual text or email.

Tip: Once you send a manual message in an AI-nurture conversation, Alex steps back and stops automated messaging for that lead. If you want Alex to eventually re-engage them, encourage the lead to re-submit a form on your website rather than messaging them directly in the existing thread.

Can I bulk-enroll existing contacts into AI Lead Nurture?

Bulk enrollment is not currently supported. Enrollment is triggered on an individual basis when a contact submits a new form or inquiry with a valid U.S. mobile phone number.

What if a past lead already has a valid phone number in my CRM?

Having a phone number in your AI CRM is not enough to trigger enrollment. The enrollment trigger is the act of submitting a new form — not simply being a contact in the system. The lead would need to re-submit their information through your website for Alex to begin messaging them.

Will AI Lead Nurture start if a lead submits a form a second time?

Yes. If a lead submits a new inquiry and has a valid U.S. mobile number that can receive texts and has not opted out of SMS, Alex will begin the nurture sequence — even if that lead was previously in your CRM.

Can I restart AI Lead Nurture for a lead who already went through the sequence?

Once a lead has completed or exited the AI Lead Nurture sequence, the only way to restart it is for them to submit a new inquiry. Manually re-triggering the sequence for a contact is not currently available.
