When testing your website, the rules for what information you can use depend on which type of form you're testing. Contact forms accept fake information. The Home Search Tool registration requires real contact details because it validates both email and phone number.

Testing website contact forms

You can use fake email addresses and fake phone numbers for any standard website form — contact forms, schedule a showing forms, general inquiry forms, and any other form that doesn't require verification.

Fake email examples: test@test.com, testing123@example.com, yourname+test@gmail.com

Fake phone number examples: (555) 555-5555, 123-456-7890, any 10-digit number

Testing Home Search Tool registration

You must use a real email address and a real phone number when testing Home Search registration. The Home Search Tool validates contact information — fake emails and fake phone numbers will not work.

For multiple test registrations: Use Gmail plus addressing to create variations of your real email address — yourname+test1@gmail.com, yourname+test2@gmail.com, and so on. Each variation is treated as a unique email address while delivering to your real inbox. You can reuse your real phone number across multiple email-based tests.

Note: Once an email address has been used to register in the Home Search Tool, it cannot be used again. If you need to test multiple times, use Gmail plus addressing, multiple email accounts, or ask team members to test with their own real contact information.

What happens after Home Search registration

After a visitor registers in the Home Search Tool:

1. The visitor enters their email and phone number to register.
2. A pop-up appears asking follow-up questions — timeline, financing status, whether they're working with an agent, and a home email address field.
3. The visitor can either complete the follow-up questions and click Submit, or exit the pop-up without submitting.

Important: Registration does not redirect to a separate Thank You page — it stays on the same URL with a pop-up overlay. If you're setting up conversion tracking for Home Search registrations, event-based tracking is required. Contact our support team to discuss tracking options.

How to delete test contacts

After testing, Admin users can delete test contacts directly from the Contacts tab.

1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
2. Click Contacts from the left-hand menu.
3. Use the search bar to find the test contact by email or name, or scroll through the list.
4. Click on the contact to open their profile.
5. Click Delete and confirm the deletion.

Important: Only Admin users have permission to delete contacts. If you don't see the Delete option, contact someone with Admin access to remove the test contact.

Note: Test submissions appear in your analytics. Delete test contacts after testing, or filter out test email addresses when reviewing reports.
