How to update SEO page settings in Presence®

How to configure page name, URL path, SEO title, meta description, social sharing image, and search engine indexing for any page.

Overview

Page Settings in the Website Builder let you control how each page appears in search results, on social media, and in the platform itself. You can access Page Settings for any page without entering Edit mode.

How to access Page Settings

1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
2. Click Websites from the left-hand menu, then hover over the site you want to edit and select the pen icon.
3. Use the page dropdown in the top-left corner to select the page you want to configure.
4. Click the three-dots icon in the top-right corner (next to the Edit button).
5. Select Page Settings from the dropdown.

Page Settings fields

Page Name

The internal name used to identify this page in the Presence® Platform. Appears in the page dropdown menu — not visible to website visitors.

Best practice: Use descriptive names that help you identify pages quickly in the builder — for example, "About - Team Bios" rather than just "About."

Page Path

The URL path that appears in the browser address bar when someone visits this page.

Example:

• Page Path: /about-us
• Full URL: yourwebsite.com/about-us

Use lowercase letters with hyphens between words. Don't include the domain name — only the path after it. Some predefined page types auto-fill this field.

Important: Changing a page path after it's been indexed by Google can break existing links and hurt your search rankings. If you need to change a path on an established page, contact our support team to set up a redirect before making the change.

Page SEO Title

The title that appears in browser tabs, Google search results, and when someone bookmarks your page.

Example:

• How it appears in Google: Luxury Real Estate Agent in Beverly Hills | Sarah Thompson

Best practices:

• Keep under 60 characters — Google truncates longer titles in search results
• Include your primary keyword near the beginning
• Include your location and business name
• Write it to be compelling — this is what people click on in search results

Description (Meta Description)

The short summary that appears below your page title in Google search results.

Example:

• Description: Award-winning luxury real estate agent specializing in Beverly Hills estates. Over $100M in career sales. Contact Sarah Thompson for expert guidance.

Best practices:

• Keep under 160 characters
• Include your primary keywords naturally
• Include a call-to-action — for example, "Browse our listings" or "Contact us today"
• Accurately describe what's on the page

Note: Google sometimes generates its own description based on page content if it determines that's more relevant — this is normal behavior and doesn't indicate an error.

Page Image (Social sharing thumbnail)

The image that appears when someone shares your page on social media, in text messages, or in messaging apps like Slack.

Where it appears: Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, iMessage, Android messages, and other preview-generating platforms.

To set a page image:

1. In Page Settings, locate the Image field.
2. Click Upload or Choose Image.
3. Select an image from your computer or Media Gallery.
4. Click Save.

Best practices:

• Minimum 1200 x 630px for best display across platforms
• Choose an image that represents the page — team photo for About, property photo for listings
• Avoid text overlays — they're often hard to read at thumbnail size

Search Engine Indexing

A toggle that controls whether search engines like Google can find and display this page in search results.

When to disable indexing:

• Thank you pages after form submissions
• Campaign-specific landing pages
• Pages under construction
• Pages with duplicate content

Best practice: Keep indexing enabled for all main pages — Home, About, Team, Contact, Listings, Blog.

Do Page Settings changes go live immediately?

Yes. Changes saved in Page Settings take effect immediately. Note that:

• SEO Title and Description — changes appear in Google search results after Google re-indexes your page, which can take days to weeks
• Page Path — takes effect immediately, but can break existing links if the page is already indexed
• Social sharing image — appears the next time someone shares your page link (social platforms may cache old previews — see troubleshooting below)
• Search engine indexing — takes effect immediately

Troubleshooting

SEO changes aren't showing in Google

Google re-indexes pages on its own schedule — updates to SEO Title and Description can take days or weeks to appear in search results. To request faster indexing, submit your sitemap to Google Search Console. Also confirm that Search Engine Indexing is enabled in Page Settings for the page.

Social sharing image isn't appearing when I share the page

Facebook and LinkedIn cache page previews and may show an old image even after you've updated it. Use their platform-specific debugging tools to clear the cached preview:

• Facebook: Use the Facebook Sharing Debugger
• LinkedIn: Use the LinkedIn Post Inspector

Also confirm the image is correctly saved in Page Settings and check that the file size isn't too large — compress if needed.

I need to change a page path — how do I avoid breaking SEO?

Contact our support team before changing the path on any page that's already indexed by Google. We can set up a redirect from the old path to the new one so existing links and search rankings aren't affected:

Tips for effective page SEO settings

• Use a unique SEO Title and Description on every page — never duplicate them across pages
• Include location keywords — add city and neighborhood names to titles and descriptions for local search visibility
• Front-load important keywords — put your most important terms at the beginning of titles and descriptions
• Write for people, not search engines — SEO titles and descriptions should read naturally and be compelling enough to click
• Set the social sharing image on every page — leaving it blank means platforms will choose an image automatically, which may not represent the page well

FAQs

Will Google always show my meta description in search results?

Not necessarily. Google sometimes generates its own description based on page content if it determines that's more relevant to a specific search query. This is normal behavior — keep your description well-written and accurate, and Google will use it when it fits.

How long does it take for SEO changes to appear in Google?

It can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks for Google to re-index a page and show updated SEO Title or Description in search results. To speed up the process, submit your sitemap to Google Search Console.

Can visitors still access a page if I disable search engine indexing?

Yes. Disabling indexing only prevents search engines from displaying the page in search results — visitors with the direct URL can still access it. Use this for thank you pages, campaign landing pages, or pages under construction.

What happens if I share a page before setting a social sharing image?

Social media platforms will automatically select an image from your page to use as the preview thumbnail. The result may not represent your page well. Set a specific Page Image in Page Settings to control what appears when your page is shared.
