How to edit image alt text in the Website Builder and Content sections for better SEO and accessibility.

Important: This feature is only available on desktop. It is not accessible through the Luxury Presence Mobile App.

Overview

Alt text helps search engines understand your images and makes your website more accessible to visitors using screen readers. You can add or update alt text in two places — the Website Builder and the Content section of the Presence® Platform.

How to edit alt text in the Website Builder

1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
2. Click Websites from the left-hand menu, then hover over the site you want to edit and select the pen icon.
3. Use the page dropdown in the top-left corner to navigate to the page you want to edit.
4. Click Edit in the top-right corner, then click the element that contains the image.
5. In the left-hand panel, locate the image under Upload background image.
6. Hover over the image and click the pen icon to open the Media Gallery.
7. Click the Assigned tab to view the current image.
8. Hover over the image and click the pen icon to open the Edit Metadata panel.
9. Update the following fields:
   • Image Title — helps you find the image in the Media Gallery
   • Alt Text — descriptive text used by search engines and screen readers
10. Click Apply, then Save.

How to edit alt text in the Content section

1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
2. In the left-hand menu, click Content to expand the submenu, then select the relevant section — Properties, Neighborhoods, etc.
3. Click the item containing the image you want to update.
4. On the right-hand side, hover over the image and click the pen icon to open the Media Gallery.
5. Click the Assigned tab to view the current image.
6. Hover over the image and click the pen icon to open the Edit Metadata panel.
7. Update the Image Title and Alt Text fields.
8. Click Apply, then Save.

Alt text best practices

• Be descriptive and specific — describe what's actually in the image, not just that it's an image
• Keep it under 125 characters — concise descriptions are more useful than long ones
• Include relevant keywords — but write for humans first, search engines second
• Skip "image of" or "photo of" — screen readers already announce that it's an image
• Use consistent formatting — consistent capitalization and punctuation helps readability
• Avoid personal identifying information — don't include names or ages

Does every image need alt text?
