Overview

The map boundary you set for a neighborhood controls what appears in neighborhood demographics elements, search elements, and MLS backfill elements on your website. Keeping it accurate ensures visitors see the correct area data and property listings.

How to access the neighborhood map settings

1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
2. In the left-hand menu, click Content to expand the submenu, then select Neighborhoods.
3. Use the search bar to find the neighborhood, or click it from the list.
4. Scroll down to the Demographics & Map section.

How to set or update the map area

1. In the map input field, type the name of the neighborhood or ZIP code — for example, "Santa Monica."
2. Select the result to apply it. The map will display:
   • A boundary pulled from the Home Search tool
   • Demographic data for that area

How to draw a custom boundary (optional)

If the pre-set boundary doesn't accurately reflect the area you serve:

1. Click Remove to delete the current boundary.
2. Click Draw to manually outline a custom shape using the map drawing tool.
3. Click Save in the top-right corner to apply your changes.

Note: The map tool may not pull accurate data for very small neighborhoods or areas not recognized by Google Maps. In those cases, drawing a custom boundary is recommended.

FAQs

What's the difference between setting a map area and drawing a custom boundary?

Setting a map area uses a pre-defined boundary from the Home Search tool based on the neighborhood name or ZIP code you enter. Drawing a custom boundary lets you manually outline the exact area you want to target — useful when the pre-set boundary is too broad, too narrow, or not recognized by Google Maps.

Can I undo a custom boundary after drawing it?

Click Remove to clear the current boundary — whether it was set automatically or drawn manually. Then re-enter a location name or draw a new boundary as needed. Click Save to apply.

Why is my neighborhood not showing accurate data?

Very small neighborhoods or areas not recognized by Google Maps may not return accurate boundary or demographic data when searched by name. Draw a custom boundary instead to define the area manually.
