How to customize padding on website elements to fine-tune layout and spacing.

Important: This feature is only available on desktop. It is not accessible through the Luxury Presence Mobile App.

You can adjust the top and bottom padding on any element in the Website Builder. Changes appear in real time so you can preview the spacing before saving.

How to adjust element padding

To adjust element spacing, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
  2. Click Websites from the left-hand menu, then hover over the site you want to edit and select the pen icon.
  3. Use the page dropdown in the top-left corner to select the page containing the element you want to adjust.
  4. Click Edit in the top-right corner.
  5. Click the element you want to adjust.
  6. In the left-hand panel, scroll to the Padding section.
  7. Toggle Custom for the Top and/or Bottom padding.
  8. Use the sliders to increase or decrease the spacing — changes appear instantly in the builder.
  9. Click Save to apply your updates to the live site.

FAQs

Why can't I see the Padding section when I click an element?

The Padding section only appears for elements that support custom spacing. If you click an element and don't see a Padding section in the left-hand panel, that element type does not support custom padding adjustments. Try clicking a different element — such as a text block, image, or section container — to see if the Padding option appears.

Can I adjust spacing between sections, not just individual elements?

Section-level spacing is controlled by the padding on the individual elements within each section, not on the section itself. To increase or decrease the gap between two sections, adjust the bottom padding on the last element in the upper section and/or the top padding on the first element in the lower section.

Spacing looks different on mobile — what should I do?

The padding controls in the Website Builder apply to the desktop view only. Mobile layout and spacing are adjusted separately. If your spacing looks correct on desktop but is off on mobile, contact our support team — they can apply mobile-specific spacing adjustments on your behalf:

I adjusted the padding but the spacing still looks wrong — what should I try?

If spacing changes aren't producing the result you expect, try these steps:

  1. Make sure you're in Edit mode (click the Edit button in the top-right corner) — padding controls are not accessible in preview mode.
  2. Click directly on the element whose spacing you want to change, not the section around it.
  3. Scroll down in the left-hand panel to find the Padding section — it may not be immediately visible.
  4. Check that you've toggled Custom on for Top and/or Bottom padding before using the slider.
  5. Click Save after making changes — changes are not applied to the live site until you save.

Can I adjust left and right padding as well?

The padding controls in the Website Builder focus on top and bottom spacing. If you need more advanced layout control, contact our support team for assistance:

Do spacing changes apply only to the element I selected?

Yes. Padding adjustments apply only to the specific element you clicked. Each element has its own independent padding settings.

Can I preview spacing changes before saving?

Yes. Changes appear instantly in the Website Builder as you move the sliders — you can see the updated layout before clicking Save.

Can I adjust element padding from the mobile app?

No. Element padding is adjusted in the Website Builder, which is only available through the Presence® Platform on desktop. This isn't accessible through the Luxury Presence Mobile App.
