How to manage forced registration settings for the Home Search Tool in Presence®

How to require visitors to sign up after viewing a set number of listings in the Home Search Tool.

Overview

The Forced Registration setting in the Home Search Tool prompts visitors to sign up after viewing a set number of property listings. You control how many listings a non-registered visitor can view before the sign-up modal appears.

Important: These steps apply only to the Home Search Tool. For forced registration on non-home search pages, see [How to set up a Forced Conversion Modal in Presence®].

How to configure forced registration

1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
2. Click Websites from the left-hand menu, then hover over the site you want to edit and select the pen icon.
3. Click the three-dots icon in the top navigation bar next to Edit.
4. Select Site Settings from the dropdown.
5. In the left-hand sidebar, click Home Search Tool under the Home Search submenu.
6. Locate the checkbox labeled Require clients to log in to view listings:
   • To enable — click to turn the toggle on
   • To disable — click to turn the toggle off
7. Optionally, choose how many listings a visitor can view before the sign-up modal appears — select a number between 0 and 10 from the dropdown. Setting it to 0 means the modal appears immediately.
8. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click Save.

FAQs

What happens when a visitor reaches the listing limit?

A sign-up modal appears prompting the visitor to create an account or sign in before viewing additional listings. Visitors can sign in via Google or Facebook, or manually enter their email address.

What does setting the limit to 0 mean?

Setting the listing limit to 0 means the sign-up modal appears immediately when a visitor accesses the Home Search Tool — before they can view any listings.

Does this setting apply to all visitors or just new ones?

This setting applies to non-registered (non-logged-in) visitors only. Visitors who are already signed in to an account will not see the modal.

Where do captured registrations go?

Visitors who sign up through the forced registration modal are added to your contacts in Presence® CRM and trigger a lead alert notification. See [How to update lead alert email addresses in Presence®].

Does this affect the Forced Conversion Modal on other pages?

No. The Home Search Tool forced registration is a separate setting from the Forced Conversion Modal used on non-home search pages. See [How to set up a Forced Conversion Modal in Presence®] for the non-home search version.

Does the listing limit apply to paid traffic too?

No. For visitors coming from paid traffic sources, the sign-up prompt always appears immediately (set to 0 views) and this cannot be changed. The configurable listing limit only applies to non-paid visitors.
