How to change your blog post thumbnail, preview text, and SEO description

How to update the image and description that appear in your blog grid, blog card previews, and when posts are shared on social media.

Important: This feature is only available on desktop. It is not accessible through the Luxury Presence Mobile App.

Each blog post has a few separate fields that control how it appears in different places. Knowing which field does what saves you from updating the wrong one.

  • Images — the photo shown on the blog card in your blog grid and at the top of the post
  • Post Body — the opening sentences of your post body are what appear as preview text in the blog grid
  • SEO Description — the text search engines and social media platforms show when your post is shared as a link

These are separate fields. Changing the SEO Description will not change how the post looks in your blog grid, and vice versa.

How to change the blog post thumbnail image

The thumbnail is the photo that appears on the blog card in your blog grid and at the top of the individual post page. It's set using the Images panel in the post editor.

  1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Content to expand the submenu, then select Blog Posts.
  3. Use the search bar to find the blog post you want to update, or click it from the list.
  4. In the Images panel on the right-hand side of the editor, click Upload Images to upload a new photo or replace the existing one.
  5. Click Publish to apply the change.

Tip: For best results, use a horizontal (landscape) image. The recommended ratio for blog thumbnails is 16:9 (e.g., 1200 × 675px).

How to change the blog post preview text

The preview text that appears under the post title in your blog grid comes from the opening of your Post Body — there is no separate excerpt field. To change what appears in the grid, edit the first sentences of your post content.

  1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Content to expand the submenu, then select Blog Posts.
  3. Use the search bar to find the blog post you want to update, or click it from the list.
  4. In the Post Body field, update the opening sentences to reflect the preview text you want to appear in the blog grid.
  5. Click Publish to apply the change.

Note: If your changes don't appear immediately, try clearing your browser cache or opening the page in a private/incognito window. Allow a few minutes after publishing for the grid to refresh.

How to change the SEO description

The SEO description is what appears when your post is shared as a link on social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) or shown as a snippet in Google search results. It does not affect how the post looks in your blog grid.

  1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Content to expand the submenu, then select Blog Posts.
  3. Use the search bar to find the blog post you want to update, or click it from the list.
  4. Scroll down to the SEO section at the bottom of the editor.
  5. Update the Description field with the text you want to appear in search results and social sharing previews (300 characters or less).
  6. Click Publish to apply the change.

I updated the SEO description, but the preview in my blog grid didn't change — why?

The SEO description and the blog grid preview text are separate fields. The SEO description controls what search engines and social platforms show when the post is shared as a link — it has no effect on the blog grid.
