Why is my property showing the wrong location on my website?

What to do when your MLS data shows the correct address or coordinates, but the property website is displaying the wrong location.

Important: This feature is only available on desktop. It is not accessible through the Luxury Presence Mobile App.

Overview

If your property website is showing the wrong location — even though the address and coordinates are correct in your MLS feed — the issue is typically a sync delay, a geocoding discrepancy, a cached browser view, or a listing link problem. This article explains what to check, what you can fix yourself, and when to contact our support team.

Common causes

  • MLS sync delay — Your MLS may have updated the coordinates, but the Presence® Platform hasn't pulled in the latest data yet. Syncs run on a scheduled cycle and typically complete within 30–60 minutes.
  • Geocoding discrepancy — The platform may be interpreting the street address through a mapping service that returns a slightly different pin location than expected — even when the address itself is correct.
  • Cached browser display — Your browser may be showing an older cached version of the map, which can make the location appear wrong even after it has been updated.
  • Property linked to the wrong listing — If your property website is connected to the wrong listing record, it will display that listing's location instead of the correct one.

Steps to try first

Step 1: Check the MLS sync status

  1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Content to expand the submenu, then select Properties.
  3. Use the search bar to find a specific property, or click the property from the list.
  4. Confirm that the address and coordinates shown in the platform match what's in your MLS. If they match, the sync has pulled in the correct data — move to Step 2.
  5. If the address or coordinates do not match your MLS, the sync may not have completed yet. Wait 30–60 minutes and check again.

Note: If the data is still incorrect after one hour, contact our support team — there may be a delay in the MLS feed for your region.

Step 2: Clear your browser cache and test in incognito

  1. Open your property website in a new incognito or private browsing window.
  2. If the location now appears correct, your regular browser was showing a cached version. Clear your browser cache and reload the page normally.
  3. If the location is still incorrect in incognito, this is not a cache issue — continue to Step 3.

Step 3: Verify the property website is linked to the correct listing

  1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
  2. Click Websites from the left-hand menu.
  3. Find the property website you want to check.
  4. Hover over it and click the three-dots icon.
  5. Select Change Property from the dropdown — the pop-up will show the currently linked property.
  6. If the wrong listing is linked, select the correct property, then click Confirm.

When to contact our support team

Contact our support team if any of the following apply:

  • The address and coordinates in the Presence® Platform match your MLS exactly, but the map on the live property website still shows the wrong location
  • You have waited more than one hour after your MLS updated and the data in the Presence® Platform still has not refreshed
  • The property website is linked to the correct listing but is still displaying the wrong location
  • Fields appear locked and you are unable to make edits

When your MLS data is correct but the live property website map shows the wrong location, the issue is usually a geocoding discrepancy or a platform sync issue — not a data entry problem. Start by clearing your browser cache and testing the page in an incognito window. If the location is still wrong, contact our support team so they can investigate the specific property record and geocoding data:

Can I manually override the coordinates on an MLS-synced listing?

You can manually edit the coordinates on an MLS-synced listing, but only by turning off MLS sync for the entire listing — there isn't a field-level toggle specifically for address or coordinates. Once full sync is turned off, all fields become editable, and the MLS will no longer push any updates to that listing until you turn sync back on.
