How to add your GA4 or Universal Analytics tracking ID to your Presence® website.

Overview

Adding your Google Analytics tracking ID to your website lets you track traffic, user behavior, and site performance directly in your Google Analytics account.

Step 1: Find your tracking ID

For GA4 properties:

1. Sign in to Google Analytics.
2. Go to Admin → Property → Data Streams.
3. Click your web data stream and copy the Measurement ID — it starts with G-.

For Universal Analytics (UA) properties:

1. Sign in to Google Analytics.
2. Go to Admin → Property Settings.
3. Copy the Tracking ID — it starts with UA-.

Step 2: Add the tracking ID in Presence®

1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
2. Click Websites from the left-hand menu, then hover over the site you want to edit and select the pen icon.
3. Click the three-dots icon in the top navigation bar next to Edit.
4. Select Site Settings from the dropdown.
5. Click Tracking IDs in the left-hand panel.
6. Paste your tracking ID into the Client Tracking ID field.
7. Click Save.

Tip: Make sure there are no extra spaces before or after the ID when pasting.

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for data to start appearing in your Google Analytics dashboard.

FAQs

What's the difference between the Client Tracking ID and other tracking ID fields?

The Client Tracking ID field connects your own Google Analytics account to your website. Other fields in the Tracking IDs section (such as Adwerx or CookieYes) are for separate third-party tracking tools. Should I use GA4 or Universal Analytics?

How do I verify the tracking code is working?

After saving, use the Realtime report in Google Analytics to confirm your site is sending data — visit a page on your live site and check if the visit appears in real time.
