Getting started with Google Analytics 4 for your Presence® website

How GA4 is set up for your website and how to access and use your analytics data.

Overview

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is a free tool that tracks how visitors interact with your website — page views, traffic sources, form submissions, and more. Luxury Presence handles the initial GA4 setup for your website and grants you access to your property.

How GA4 is set up

When your Luxury Presence website launches:

1. A GA4 property is created for your website
2. A tracking code is generated and added to your site
3. Data begins collecting — typically within minutes, though full reporting may take 24–48 hours

How to get access to your GA4 data

1. Provide Luxury Presence with your Google account email (Gmail or Google Workspace)
2. We'll add you to your Analytics property with the appropriate role — Viewer, Analyst, Editor, or Administrator
3. You'll receive an email invitation — follow the link to log in and view your data

Note: A Google account is required to access Google Analytics. Without one, access cannot be granted.

How to view your data in GA4

1. Log in at analytics.google.com
2. Navigate to the Reports section in the left-hand menu
3. Explore categories including Acquisition, Engagement, Monetization, and Retention
4. Use date selectors and filters to refine your view

Key GA4 features

Custom date ranges — apply any date range across most reports to analyze specific time periods.

Custom event tracking — GA4 can track specific actions on your site such as contact form submissions, button clicks, video plays, and scroll activity. These can also be set as conversions to measure against your goals.

Custom reports — create reports beyond the defaults:

1. Go to Reports → Customize Report (top-right corner)
2. Add the metrics and dimensions you want
3. Click Save
4. Go to Library → Collections to publish and make the report accessible

Data export — export report data in CSV, Excel, PDF, or Google Sheets format using the Share/Export icon in the top-right corner of any report.

Google Search Console integration — link GSC to GA4 to view search query data, impressions, and click-through rates within GA4 under Acquisition → Search Console.

FAQs

How long does it take for data to appear after setup?

Initial data typically appears within minutes. Full report population may take 24–48 hours.

Can I see which channels are driving traffic to my site?

Yes. The Acquisition reports show traffic broken down by channel — organic search, paid ads, direct, referral, and more.

Can I track form submissions and other specific actions?

Yes. Custom events can be configured to track contact form submissions, button clicks, video plays, and scroll activity. Contact our support team for help setting up custom event tracking.

Can I add custom metrics to my reports?

Yes. Use the Customize Report feature to add dimensions and metrics beyond the defaults, then publish the report to your Library for easy access.

How does GA4 define a session?

A session in GA4 is a period during which a user actively interacts with your site. Sessions begin when a user views a page and end after 30 minutes of inactivity. Unlike previous versions of Google Analytics, GA4 does not restart a session when the campaign source changes mid-session. If a session crosses midnight, it counts as one session but is recorded for both days.

Can I recover data that was filtered out during GA4 processing?

No. Data excluded during processing — such as internal traffic filters — cannot be recovered after the fact. Configure your filters carefully before applying them.
