What's the difference between Leads and Clients in the Contacts tab?

Overview

Leads and Clients are filtered views inside the Contacts tab — not separate databases. Every contact in your AI CRM is assigned one of seven contact types, and these views surface contacts based on that type. Your contacts, their history, and their AI-powered features all stay in one place.

Contact types and what they mean

AI CRM organizes every contact into one of seven types:

• Lead — A potential client you haven't yet closed a deal with.
• Active Client — A client you're currently working with on an open transaction.
• Past Client — A client whose transaction has already closed.
• Sphere — Someone in your personal network, outside of active business.
• Agent — Another real estate agent.
• Vendor — A contractor or service provider.
• Other — A contact that doesn't fit any of the categories above, such as a non-business contact.

AI features by contact type

Not all contact types unlock the same AI features:

• Leads, Active Clients, Past Clients, and Sphere contacts get the full suite: Lead Score, Smart Actions, Enrichment, Activity Timeline, Listing Alerts, and AI Lead Nurture.
• Agent, Vendor, and Other contacts do not receive AI features.

Note: Some of these features depend on your plan or account configuration. AI Lead Nurture is included on the Scale and All In plans, and available as an add-on for Launch and Brand plans — see What is AI Lead Nurture? for details. Lead Score is also only available if the feature is enabled on your account.

How to change a contact's type

To update a contact's type:

1. Navigate to the Presence® Platform.
2. Click Contacts from the left-hand menu.
3. Click directly on the contact type, either from the main contacts list or from the contact's detail page, and select the new type.

The contact's type updates immediately and is reflected right away in your list views, filters, and AI feature eligibility.

FAQs

What's the difference between the Leads view and the Clients view?

The Leads view shows contacts with a type of "Lead," while the Clients view shows contacts with a type of "Active Client" or "Past Client." Both views are filtered windows into the same contacts database — no contact data is stored separately in each view.

Do Leads and Clients get the same AI features?

Yes — Leads, Active Clients, Past Clients, and Sphere contacts all receive the same AI features: Lead Score, Smart Actions, Enrichment, Activity Timeline, Listing Alerts, and AI Lead Nurture, subject to your plan and account configuration.

Can I change a contact from a Lead to a Client?

Yes — click directly on the contact type from either the main contacts list or the contact's detail page, and select the new type. The contact will then appear in the Clients view instead of the Leads view and will retain all of their existing history and activity.

What is the Sphere contact type?

Sphere is for someone in your personal network, outside of active business. Sphere contacts receive the same AI features as Leads and Clients.

What happens to Agent, Vendor, or Other contacts?

Contacts classified as Agent, Vendor, or Other are stored in your database but do not receive AI features like Lead Score, Smart Actions, or AI Lead Nurture.

Which plans include AI Lead Nurture?

AI Lead Nurture is included on the Scale and All In plans, and it's available as an add-on for Launch and Brand plan customers.
