What is the Google One Tap Profile Update lead source?

Overview

Profile Update is a lead source label that appears in AI CRM when a visitor completes or updates their account details after signing in through Google One Tap. Unlike the Home Search Tool's qualification dialog — which only triggers on Home Search actions — Google One Tap sign-in can happen anywhere on your website, making this a site-wide mechanism.

What triggers a Profile Update

A Profile Update is recorded when a visitor signs in using Google One Tap and is then prompted to complete or update their account details — such as their phone number and home search interests. When they save that information, the system logs it as a Profile Update event and records it as the lead source.

Currently, this specific Profile Update flow only occurs during the Google One Tap sign-in process — immediately after a visitor signs in for the first time.

Note: This is separate from the Profile_Update activity generated by the Home Search Tool's qualification dialog, which is scoped only to Home Search actions (search submission, liking/saving a listing, account sign-up, or login within Home Search). Not exactly. A Profile Update means an existing visitor completed or updated their account information after signing in. It's a useful engagement signal — it shows the visitor is providing more detail about their home search interests — but it represents an update to an existing contact rather than a brand new submission.
